Overview and objectives:
Objective: To contribute to the proclamation of the Tulipa albanica habitat in Surroj, Kukës as a protected area under Category III of protection.
This project builds upon the activities implemented under the previous project “Conservation and propagation of the Albanian tulip”, that has already been funded by CEPF, Grant Number: CEPF-109942. As the project was successfully implemented and even went beyond the foreseen results, IEP is looking to amplify and strengthen the activities that could not complete under this project, and achieve further new results through a new grant. The project will focus on supporting the process for declaring the Tulipa albanica site a Category III protected area-Natural Monument. This entails:
• Advocacy activities to support the proclamation of Tulipa albanica habitat as Nature Monument;
• Activities to increase the support from the local population and the general Albanian public for the proclamation of Tulipa albanica habitat as Nature Monument.
